About Us

The Housing and Community Development Department is a part of the Community Action Center (CAC) which is a private non-profit 501(c)3  organization.  CAC is primarily funded by state and federal grants and community donations.  Since 1988, CAC has been a source of support for moderate to low income people in Whitman County, Washington.

The Housing & Community Development's focus is on homes and the health of the home.  We offer Self-Help Homes and information for the homebuyer.  For existing homes in Whitman County, we offer weatherization services.

CAC also offers different services, from emergency and transitional housing, food bank, Section 8 rental vouchers, energy assistance, and rental housing.  For information on the other services offered please visit the CAC website at http://www.cacwhitman.com/.
